Let the lights continue to shine for Malaysia! Happy Deepavali!

Deepavali, a global festival celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs and Jains, is known as the festival of lights that bring goodness and replaces all the darkness.

Like all other festivals in this world, Deepavali is also a celebration of friendship, family and fellowship.

I wish to remind all Malaysians, irrespective of race, creed or religion, that we are all Malaysian First in our beloved multi-racial multi-religious nation.

Our loyalty to Malaysia is undivided and unreserved.

And national harmony and unity hinges on two factors – mutual respect and tolerance – that must be upheld and defended by all Malaysians.

This nation that we love is built by Malaysians and that includes the minorities.

That the minorities contribute some 90% of income tax for the federal government to develop Malaysia speaks volumes of their contributions to nation-building.

Happy Deepavali Malaysians!
